Robert Orci No Longer Directing Next Star Trek

Okay, so this has been a bit of a roller coaster ride. First Robert Orci was directing the next Star Trek. Then he wasn’t. Then he was again.

Now, according to Deadline, Orci isn’t anymore.

Whether he was fired or quit the project is unknown, as very few details beyond “he’s out” seem to be around. Orci is still “Producing,” but it’s unclear whether or not he’s actually acting as a real producer or “Producing” the way Tim Burton was a producer on Batman Forever. Deadline says Edgar Wright is on the short list to replace Orci, but that seems weird and unlikely. Wright is a great director, but how well his style would mesh with the Star Trek franchise is questionable.

Although it’s true “Edgar Wright’s Star Trek” would probably be entertaining.

Trae Dorn

Trae Dorn has been staffing conventions for over twenty-five years. They also wrote and drew the now completed webcomic UnCONventional, and produce the podcasts BS-Free Witchcraft, On This Day With Trae, Stormwood & Associates, The Meatgrinder, and The Nerd & Tie Podcast. This leads many to ask how the heck they have the time to get it all done. Trae says they have the time because they “do it all quite poorly.”
