DashCon Successor Event “EmotiCon” Cancelled

A little while back we mentioned that legendary disaster convention DashCon had rebranded itself as EmotiCon. Sadly, we must now report though that EmotiCon 2015 has been cancelled.

It was announced yesterday on the EmotiCon Official Tumblr, and they have apparently started issuing refunds to those who have already paid.

Honestly? I’m a bit disappointed. I mean sure, their 2014 event was a disaster so huge it has spawned an internet legend where the memes will go on for years, but a part of me had hoped to experience the event for myself. I also always hope that conventions which fail their first year so spectacularly grow out of it — but rather than take the risk again, the organizers have decided to bow out.

I don’t blame them, but I’m still sad to see them go. Rest in peace EmotiCon/DashCon.

Thanks for the tip, Wurm!

Trae Dorn has been staffing conventions for over twenty-five years. They also wrote and drew the now completed webcomic UnCONventional, and produce the podcasts BS-Free Witchcraft, On This Day With Trae, Stormwood & Associates, The Meatgrinder, and The Nerd & Tie Podcast. This leads many to ask how the heck they have the time to get it all done. Trae says they have the time because they “do it all quite poorly.”
