Syfy Will No Longer Air Wrestling

Back in 2010, Syfy made the puzzling move of adding WWE SmackDown to their schedule. Well, not so puzzling when you consider that parent company NBC Universal did it to satisfy the requirements of their contract with the WWE, but it still made for a very awkward fit.

Well, those of us who hated the decision got some good news this week when it was announced that after almost five years, Wrestling is finally leaving Syfy.

In an article primarily about the future of the USA Network, Variety is reporting that NBC Universal wants to center all of its wrestling content onto one channel – which includes SmackDown. This will open up some important prime time hours on the schedule, and I for one am excited.

Friday nights were once the home to the network’s best programming block, and now might be once again.

Trae Dorn has been staffing conventions for over twenty-five years. They also wrote and drew the now completed webcomic UnCONventional, and produce the podcasts BS-Free Witchcraft, On This Day With Trae, Stormwood & Associates, The Meatgrinder, and The Nerd & Tie Podcast. This leads many to ask how the heck they have the time to get it all done. Trae says they have the time because they “do it all quite poorly.”
