Shooting at ZombiCon Leaves 1 Dead, 5 Injured

Gunfire broke out at ZombiCon in Fort Myers, FL last night, leaving one person dead and another five injured. Very few details have come out at this time, and according to police the suspect responsible is currently still at large.

ZombiCon is described as “the largest gathering of zombies and those who love them in the state of Florida” and the 2015 event is their ninth year running.

Mass shootings seem to be an epidemic in American culture right now, and it seemed like only a matter of time before they struck the convention world. A shooting was narrowly averted at the Pokemon World Championships in Boston just two months ago, but this time we weren’t so lucky.

Maybe it’s about time that we started to actually do something about this stuff…

  • I agree it’s time to do something to end these shootings. The best solution is to get rid of gun free zones. Had attendees been allowed to carry (concealed or otherwise) real firearms this never would have happened. Criminals who go on shooting sprees target areas where they’re not likely to encounter resistance.

    • This was outside, on a public street in Florida. Not a “gun free zone” by far. Hell, dollars to doughnuts, there were probably plenty of armed people there.

Is it possible you’re an idiot?

None of these are happening in “gun free zones,” and in most cases the person carrying the gun wasn’t breaking any laws until they started shooting. Time and time again it’s been proven the “good guy with a gun” is more likely to make a situation worse too.

The problem is we have an overarmed populace where getting a gun is far too easy. Take that weak ass sauce off of this website.
