The First ‘Star Trek Beyond’ Trailer Blows a Lot of Stuff Up

I don’t know why the current franchise seems determined to blow up the Enterprise as much as possible, but that’s what the new Star Trek Beyond trailer does. I mean, seriously – there are a lot of explosions in this thing.

Just a ton.

Star Trek Beyond is the first film in the rebooted series to not be directed by J.J. Abrams or written by Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman, with Justin Lin instead in the director’s seat and a script penned by Simon Pegg and Doug Jung. The trailer makes it clear that Paramount really did push for a similar vibe as Guardians of the Galaxy, so hopefully they pulled this thing off.

In other words, we’re hoping for Star Trek IV humor, not Star Trek V humor.

Star Trek Beyond opens July 22, 2016.

They also wrote and drew the now completed webcomic UnCONventional, and produce the podcasts BS-Free Witchcraft, On This Day With Trae, Stormwood & Associates, The Meatgrinder, and The Nerd & Tie Podcast. This leads many to ask how the heck they have the time to get it all done. Trae says they have the time because they “do it all quite poorly.”
