Nicholas Meyer Joins Writing Team for New ‘Star Trek’ Series

We don’t know a lot about the forthcoming Star Trek television series honestly. All that’s really been confirmed is that it’ll primarily “air” on the CBS All Access service, and that Bryan Fuller will show run it.

Well, while things like “plot,” “setting,” “characters,” and “continuity” are still up in the air, a bit more has trickled out as its now been revealed that Nicholas Meyer has joined the show’s writing staff.

Trek fans may remember Meyer as the director of Star Trek II and Star Trek VI, but he also co-wrote those films — along with co-wriitng Star Trek IV. So, y’know, he’s the guy most responsible for all the best Star Trek movies. Besides writing, Meyer will also be credited as a “consulting producer” — because when you bother dishing out for Nicholas Meyer, you make sure you give him a decent title.

The untitled Star Trek television series is expected to premiere in January of 2017
