Is a ‘Pennyworth’ Spinoff of ‘Gotham’ in Development?

While it’s true we’re pretty big fans of most of DC Comic’s TV adaptations (CBS’s Supergirl and The CW’s The Flash especially), we haven’t kept our disdain of Fox’s Gotham a secret. We’re so annoyed with it, we gave up even writing snarky recaps of the show after half a season. That’s why, honestly, it’s the last corner of DC’s TV Multiverse that we’d want to see expanded.

Unfortunately, there’s a small chance it might happen.

It’s been reported that DC Entertainment has registered a trademark for “Pennyworth” as a “live-action, dramatic comedy television series.” Now it’s true that’s not a lot to go on, and this may not be related to Gotham at all… but since the character’s IP is currently being used on that series, it only makes sense that this is where the “live action” iteration would come from.

This is all super-early stages, so it’s possible nothing will come from any of this. It’s possible no show ever materializes… but woe to the television viewing public if it does.

This leads many to ask how the heck they have the time to get it all done. Trae says they have the time because they “do it all quite poorly.”
