The First Trailer for ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Looks Amazing

Disney spent a lot of money on Lucasfilm, and by god they plan on getting their money’s worth. One of the interesting things they did with the Star Wars franchise (besides start making movies again period) was to start releasing “anthology” films in years that they didn’t have an “Episode” coming out.

While “Episodes” will continue the primary story we saw in both the original trilogy and the prequels, the Anthology movies will fill in more of the universe. You know, the people who don’t hang out with people related to Anakin Skywalker? Yeah, they totally exist.

Rogue One is the first of these films, and is set just prior to A New Hope. The film is about the theft of the Death Star plans, which is mentioned in Episode IV but never really explained in detail. We’ve only gotten some vague details beyond that about most of this film (like a cast photo), but this morning we have the first trailer.

And it looks amazing.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story comes out December 16, 2016.
