The New ‘Fantastic Beasts’ Trailer Tells Us More About Newt Scamander

The Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them isn’t coming until the fall, but last night (during the MTV Movie Awards) we were treated to what is the film’s second teaser trailer. Where the first teaser trailer seemed designed to give us the film’s setting, this new one is focused on tellus exactly who Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander actually is.

The film is a bit of a risk for the studio, as it’s a Harry Potter-universe film with none of the series’s standard characters (although Dumbledore does get name dropped in this trailer). But with a script by J.K. Rowling herself, it’s hard to debate that it won’t at least feel like a proper entry into the series.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them comes out November 18, 2016.

This leads many to ask how the heck they have the time to get it all done. Trae says they have the time because they “do it all quite poorly.”

This is prickly a risk the same way Rogue One is a risk. As in it really isn’t. Sure, there aren’t any familiar characters, but I bet dollars to donuts it’ll make a crapton on money. Harry Potter is so massive that a screenplay is projected to be the best selling book this year. This is probably Warners’ most sure thing this year.
