Television Adaptation of “Mirror’s Edge” in Development

While movies based off of videogames have a pretty terrible reputation, there just haven’t been enough live action television shows based of videogames to build a pattern. I mean, Mortal Kombat: Konquest was pretty mediocre, but I downright loved Defiance. It seems like we’re going to get another entry in the genre though, as EA’s freerunning centered video game Mirror’s Edge is now being developed for television.

Endemol Shine Studios has purchased the rights to the game, and they see it as global action franchise. Endemol Shine Studios President Sharon Hall told Deadline, “It has a strong female protagonist, a wildly rabid fan base and a worldwide brand that Electronic Arts and EA DICE have done an amazing job establishing.”

Personally I’m hoping this has legs, because I for one could use a little more action-driven near future dystopian science fiction in my life.

I mean, it helps distract from the real one we seem headed towards at least…
