The First Trailer for ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’ is Here

Luc Besson’s adaptation of the French science fiction comic Valérian and Laureline went into production back in 2015, and the director’s return to Science Fiction epics is edging closer to release. Because of that, today saw the release of the first trailer for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets — and it looks really cool.

Even if it seems like no one ever smiles in this universe.

It’s a small glimpse and barely tells us anything about the film, but like Besson’s previous work The Fifth Element the film at least looks amazing. Here’s hoping the rest of the film holds up as well.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets comes out July 21, 2017.

They also wrote and drew the now completed webcomic UnCONventional, and produce the podcasts BS-Free Witchcraft, On This Day With Trae, Stormwood & Associates, The Meatgrinder, and The Nerd & Tie Podcast. This leads many to ask how the heck they have the time to get it all done. Trae says they have the time because they “do it all quite poorly.”
