‘The Girl With All the Gifts’ Trailer Presents a Unique Take on the Zombie Apocalypse

We’ve been so inundated with zombie media over the last decade that it’s hard to imagine someone doing something unique with the genre. That said, the trailer for The Girl With All the Gifts (based on the book of the same name) seems to show us something fairly different from what we’ve come to expect.

Taking place after a zombie virus has infected a large portion of mankind, Entertainment Weekly describes the plot fairly succinctly:

The only people immune to its effects? A group of children who, despite being infected, retain normal thoughts and emotions, and are subjected to cruel experiments by Glenn Close’s Dr. Caldwell at an army base in rural England. When the base falls, a child called Melanie (Sennia Nanua) escapes with her teacher Miss Justine (Gemma Arterton), a soldier played by Paddy Considine, and Caldwell.

The entire thing feels tense, and (in part due to the setting) reminiscent of 28 Days Later. Frankly, it looks pretty damned interesting to say the least.

DirectTV has the movie exclusively on January 26th, followed by a theatrical and VOD release on February 24th.
