The New Season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 Will Be Here April 14th

The long wait for the return of Mystery Science Theater 3000 to television finally has an end in sight. Last night, in an email to Kickstarter backers, MST3K creator Joel Hodgson announced that the show would officially hit streaming service Netflix on April 14th. This falls in line with what we’ve previously heard, and while we wish it was coming sooner this means there is now a light at the end of the tunnel.

The revival of Mystery Science Theater 3000 broke crowdfunding records back in 2015, and will mark the show’s first new episodes since 1999. The revived show will feature an all new cast, including Jonah Ray, Baran Vaughn, Hampton Yount, Felicia Day, and Patton Oswalt.

We’re pretty psyched up about the series return here at Nerd & Tie. I remember the first time I turned on an episode when I was a kid in the early nineties, and was completely hooked. And while it’ll be hard not to judge this new season against the old ones, hopefully it will stand proudly on its own.

Trae Dorn has been staffing conventions for over twenty-five years. They also wrote and drew the now completed webcomic UnCONventional, and produce the podcasts BS-Free Witchcraft, On This Day With Trae, Stormwood & Associates, The Meatgrinder, and The Nerd & Tie Podcast. This leads many to ask how the heck they have the time to get it all done. Trae says they have the time because they “do it all quite poorly.”
