A Godzilla Anime Film Is Coming to Netflix Later This Year

So Godzilla is just all over the place. With literally two Godzilla film franchises happening at the same time, the big guy is seemingly all over the place. I mean Toho’s Shin Godzilla in 2016 was amazing, and the follow up to Legendary’s 2014 revival has two sequels green lit. The king of monsters is pretty much everywhere.

And he’s about to show up in animated form too.

Japanese animation company Polygon Pictures is working on an animated Godzilla film for Toho which will get a limited theatrical run, and will be distributed by Netflix globally. Gen Urobuchi is writing the script, with Hiroyuki Seshita and Kôbun Shizuno co-directing the film.

The best part? The film, just titled Godzilla, is expected later this year.

Honestly, I’m pretty excited about this. I mean, yeah — calling it just Godzilla is going to make writing or talking about it complicated, but it’s another Godzilla movie. I think most of us want as many versions of the big guy on our screens as we can get.
