So Keira Knightley is Definitely Back in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’

One of the biggest problems with the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film was how its story felt so disconnected from the prior three films in the franchise. I mean, the other complaint was that it just wasn’t very good, but not having Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner or Keira Knightley’s Elizabeth Swann probably didn’t help all that much.

The fifth film has obviously been trying to rectify that, with Bloom’s character confirmed to reappear and Will and Elizabeth’s son featuring prominently – but we’ve all been assuming Knightley wouldn’t be back (as the studio hasn’t made any announcements). Then we got a Japanese trailer for the film, and guess who briefly shows up:

That’s right, she’s back. Though honestly I think we can assume it isn’t in a major role. I mean, if a film was going to prominently feature Knightley, you’d assume she’d be all over the advertising already. The fact that it’s a brief shot in an international trailer implies that she’s only making a cameo.

I’m betting in a flashback.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales comes out May 26th.
