The First Trailer for Freeform’s ‘Cloak and Dagger’ Is Here

Freeform’s television adaptation of Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger comics may not be premiering until 2018, but that hasn’t stopped the network from putting out the show’s first trailer. The show, which follows a pair of runaways from vastly different backgrounds who end up with superpowers, has a ten episode order at the cable network.

People have been trying to adapt this comic for the screen going back to 2011, when it was initially intended to air on broadcast network ABC alongside a version of Jessica Jones. Needless to say these adaptations have taken divergent paths to eventually make it to audiences.

The trailer itself gives us a tease of our two main characters, Tandy (Olivia Holt) and Ty (Aubrey Joseph), but with only minor flashes of the “superhero” angle of the show. Mostly it’s a moody trailer about a couple of runaways with a flash of superpowers at the end. Is it enough to whet the appetite of the (creepily named) “becomers” demographic Freeform is targeted at? I’m not sure.

I guess we’ll find out.

Trae Dorn has been staffing conventions for over twenty-five years. They also wrote and drew the now completed webcomic UnCONventional, and produce the podcasts BS-Free Witchcraft, On This Day With Trae, Stormwood & Associates, The Meatgrinder, and The Nerd & Tie Podcast. This leads many to ask how the heck they have the time to get it all done. Trae says they have the time because they “do it all quite poorly.”
