The New Trailer For ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’ is Here, and it is Glorious

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets dropped another trailer today, and it yet again confirms what we know most about the film — it’s absolutely beautiful. Set to an orchestral cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Pastime Paradise,” it feels dramatic, action packed, and colorful.

Based on the comic Valérian and Laureline, this film is Luc Besson’s return to space opera. The visual aesthetics in the trailer make it clear that this film really is the spiritual successor to his previous work The Fifth Element more than ever. Hopefully this film will hold up as well as that one did. Now if only Valerian would smile in one of these things…

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets comes out July 21, 2017.

This leads many to ask how the heck they have the time to get it all done. Trae says they have the time because they “do it all quite poorly.”
