Adam Wingard Will Direct ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’

Warner Bros and Legendary’s upcoming reunion of the silver screen’s two biggest monsters, Godzilla and King Kong, appears to have found its director. The Hollywood Reporter is now reporting that Adam Wingard has signed on to direct Godzilla vs. Kong.

Taking place in the same universe as both Legendary’s Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, and the upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters, the film will be the first time the characters have been on screen together since 1962’s King Kong vs. Godzilla. The story for the film was put together by a writers room assembled by Legendary, headed by Terry Rossio.

Wingard is best known for smaller films like You’re Next, The Guest, and the Blair Witch remake. He’s been in the running for some larger franchises, but you can’t really get bigger than this one. The director though seems ready for the inevitable reaction fans will have to anyone who picked up the mantle for these two beloved, larger than life characters.

Godzilla vs. Kong currently has a May 22, 2020 release date.
