‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’ Delayed Until March 2018

Let’s be clear — here at Nerd & Tie we love 2013’s Pacific Rim probably more than we should. I mean, it’s giant robots punching giant monsters, and it is amazing. Now even though the sequel lost Guillermo del Toro as a creative force (who is the main reason the first one was so great), we’re can’t wait for the film.

Though it seems like we’ll have to.

The latest news is that Pacific Rim: Uprising will no longer make its February 23, 2018 release date. Instead the studio is pushing the film back a month to March 23rd. I know it’s not a huge move, but that puts the movie only a week before Ready Player One. We’re assuming the move is due to Black Panther coming out just a week before the original date in February.

Honestly, if I were Lionsgate, I wouldn’t want to go up against Marvel Studios either.

We leave you with the bit of footage from San Diego Comic Con which we decided was too small to get its own story. We’re still excited for this one, even if we have to wait a little longer to get it.
