Zachary Levi Will Suit Up to Star in DC’s ‘Shazam!’

It’s now been announced that Zachary Levi has been cast as the other Captain Marvel in DC’s upcoming Shazam! movie. Levi will of course play the “adult” that child Billy Batson transforms into when she says the magic word. Of course, whether that character will retain the “Captain Marvel” name or just go by “Shazam!” remains to be seen.

Levi is, of course, best known for his starring role in the television series Chuck, as well as his parts in Heroes Reborn, Tangled and (of course) Thor: The Dark World. He’s a talented performer, and has both the action and comedy chops a Shazam! movie needs.

The Shazam! movie has a screenplay (written by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke) and is being produced by Peter Safran. Beyond that, we have few details about the movie as it’s still early in development.

But man, they couldn’t have done better casting (one half of) the lead.

They also wrote and drew the now completed webcomic UnCONventional, and produce the podcasts BS-Free Witchcraft, On This Day With Trae, Stormwood & Associates, The Meatgrinder, and The Nerd & Tie Podcast. This leads many to ask how the heck they have the time to get it all done. Trae says they have the time because they “do it all quite poorly.”
