Category Archives: The Nerd & Tie Podcast

Updated fortnightly, the Nerd & Tie Podcast dives into our geeky world head first. Nick, Trae and Gen go into indepth discussions on all topics nerdy and geeky, and hope to come out with something interesting at the end. Usually they do.

Episode 19 – Insert David Goyer Joke Here

On this episode we talk about Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, the current arc on Agents of SHIELD, David S. Goyer’s comments on the (lack of a) DC Cinematic Universe, Battlestar Galactica getting a reboot, Amazon buying Comixology, the upcoming No Brand Con, and we let Nick talk about… Megan Fox?

Yep. This is a thing.

A thing that has happened.

Episode 18 – Textbook Sassypants Discovery Manual

On this episode, we talk about three conventions (Kitsune Kon, Karoshi Con and The INDYpendent Show), Shaq Fu 2, first looks at Gotham, set photos from Age of Ultron, the new Ninja Turtles Trailer, and we let Nick talk about Gundam.

And we swear the title will make sense, too.

Episode 17 – Kickstarter Withheld

On this fortnight’s episode we discuss Zack Snyder’s ranting about Watchmen, John Campbell’s Kickstarter implosion, Bitcoin’s Satoshi Nakamoto’s identity, Matt Ryan and Constantine, CW’s Flash’s Costume, the Veronica Mars movie… and how 11% of all Americans mistake HTML for an STD.

Yeah. That bit may make you cry.

Note: This episode has slightly strong language near the beginning. We apologize.

Well, to you.

Not to Zack Snyder.

Episode 16 – All Goff and Stuff

On this episode we interview (My) Immortal webseries creator Brian McLellan. We also talk about the planned revivals of Pushing Daisies, Heroes, and Farscape. We let Nick talk about the Kikaider reboot, and Trae manages to not complain about Barry Allen’s costume for the new Flash series. Godzilla and Guardians of the Galaxy have new trailers… and we sort of read your mail.

That bit got complicated this episode.

Episode 15 – Muted Fury

On this installment we talk about Anime Milwaukee, 90s’ TV Flash is joining the cast of the CW’s Flash, DC Animation getting a new shared universe, a US remake of the UK series Utopia, Gargoyles showing up on Youtube, and lawmakers in New Jersey are trying to rename the Sea of Japan.

You read that right.

Also, Pher has lost his voice, so you’ll be getting a lot of Trae and Nick this episode.

Episode 14 – The DC Carnival of Sadness

On this fortnight’s episode we mourn the passing of Justin Carmical, cheer ourselves up with talking about Marvel’s cinematic universe, get a little sadder with DC’s cinematic future, feel okay with Star Wars episode VII getting a new script… and finally feel pretty happy about the new looks for both the Ninja Turtles and the Doctor.

Man, a TMNT/Doctor Who crossover would be great…

Episode 13 – Off the Rails

On this convoluted (yet excellent) episode we talk about the Star Wars canon getting rewritten, Sailor Moon’s new anime, Gotham isn’t the show we hoped it would be, Hank Pym gets cast in Ant Man, Man of Steel 2 is a mess, and CHI FI is cancelled.

Yeah, that last one is a bit of a mess.

Episode 12 – Barely Legal Pizza

On this post-Holidays episode of Nerd & Tie we talk about how god-awful cold it is out there, the Doctor Who Christmas Special, Sherlock’s return, Space Dandy (which we almost forgot about), Star Wars returning to Marvel comics, Community’s return to the airwaves, and your messages to us in the mailbag.

We really do love reading your messages.

Episode 11 – The Best of 2013!

In this fortnight’s episode we talk about Disney’s new television show with horrible implications, Ant Man finally getting a lead actor, Scott Lobdell being a douchecanoe – and our best and worst picks for 2013.

Because it’s just about over.

Because it’s December.

You really should have known that already.

Episode 10 – Routh’s Still Relevant

On this amazing installment, we review Daisho Con, finally talk about the 50th Doctor Who special for realsies, Man of Steel 2’s Wonder Woman gets cast, Singer hints at Mr. Torso Extension himself “Apocalypse” showing up in the X-men films, Aki Con is the worst convention ever to unfunny and depressing degrees, and we answer your emails.

Also, Brandon Routh is totally still relevant and we love him.

And his tiny red shorts.
