Former series regular of Agents of SHIELD Adrianne Palicki has now officially joined the cast of Seth MacFarlane’s upcoming Science Fiction dramedy. The series has already been ordered for a thirteen episode season by Fox.
MacFarlane is starring as Ed, the captain of a starship, and Palicki will play Kelly, his first officer and wife. Scott Grimes has also joined the cast, and will play the ship’s pilot.
Honestly, while this is wonderful casting news (as Palicki is extremely talented), MacFarlane’s writing isn’t exactly the best. Frankly, Ted 2 was one of the worst films I had to sit through in a long time, only topped by Michael Bay’s Pain and Gain. While I would like to be pleasantly surprised, I’m pretty damned skeptical about this show.
I guess we’ll find out what happens though.

The last we heard of the proposed Lance Hunter/Bobbi Morse spinoff of Agents of SHIELD was that it was no longer in development. Well, the show (which would star Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood) has come back from the dead with the title Most Wanted, and it’s getting a pilot.
Paul Lee, president of ABC, announced that the pilot had been ordered at the 2016 Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour. Jeffrey Bell and Paul Zbyszewski are still the driving creative force behind the show, and if it gets picked up to series, they will be show-running the project.
Palicki and Blood have both been brilliant on Agents of SHIELD, so the idea that we’d get more of them on a regular basis has me optimistic. We’ll see what happens.
Agents of SHIELD returns to ABC this spring.
We mentioned a little while back that a proposed Agents of SHIELD spinoff is being developed by Jeffrey Bell and Paul Zbyszewski, but we knew very little else.
Well, details have finally surfaced, thanks to a report by Deadline, which indicates that the show would center on Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood’s characters Lance Hunter and Bobbi Morse. Which, admittedly, means Hunter would have to forgive Bobbi for the crap she pulled this season.
But I digress.
This spinoff is not to be confused with the unnamed Marvel series in development by John Ridley, which we still don’t know much about (although current baseless speculation points to breakout comics character Kamala Khan). There’s also still no word on whether or not Agent Carter will get a second season.
TVLine is reporting that Adrianne Palicki is being promoted to series regular on ABC’s Agents of SHIELD starting with the midseason premiere (currently titled “Aftershocks”).
Palicki, of course, plays “Bobbi Morse,” better known as the superhero Mockingbird to Marvel comics readers. Paliciki’s Morse has been one of several positive cast changes in the show’s second season, which has been significantly stronger than the first (which often felt like it was waiting so it would properly time out with the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier). The fact that Marvel is willing to invest this much of its IP in the series is, of course, promising for the show’s future as well.
Agents of SHIELD returns March 3rd.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Adrianne Palicki has been cast as Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse in the fifth episode of Agents of SHIELD‘s second season.
Bobbi Morse is a character with a long, convoluted history in the Marvel Comics, who started out as a supporting (non-superhero) role in a Ka-Zar story, but not before long started an association with SHIELD.
Marvel hinted at Mockingbird showing up in their SDCC presentation, so it’s nice to see that story confirmed.
