The Trailer for Netflix’s ‘Altered Carbon’ Brings Us a Man Out of His Time

So things are a bit of a mess here at Nerd & Tie right now, but while we’re getting the paper back in stacks, we’re trying to catch up on some of the news items we’ve missed. One of them is that Netflix has released a new trailer for their adaptation of Altered Carbon.

The show looks like it’s going to be pretty faithful to the book (albeit with a couple of notable changes), and is starting to look really, really good. Frankly it’ll be nice to have a decent cyberpunk series to sink my teeth into.

Altered Carbon hits Netflix on February 2nd.

Netflix’s adaptation of Richard Morgan’s 2002 cyberpunk novel Altered Carbon hasn’t seen a lot of hype, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t look amazing. The streaming service has dropped it’s first teaser trailer for the show, and it looks dark, moody, and just plain interesting.

Set five centuries in the future, it’s set in a world where people are able to transfer their minds electronically. The rich are able to effectively gain immortality by repeatedly replacing their bodies. Entertainment Weekly has additional information (and a lot more photos), so you might want to check out their piece on the show.

All ten epiosdes of Altered Carbon hit Netflix on February 2nd.

Netflix Making Time Travel Movie ‘ARQ’ and a Series Based on ‘Altered Carbon’

There are a couple of big pieces of new coming out from Netflix this week for fans of science fiction. I mean sure, it’ll be a while before we get to watch either of these thing, but at least we have some stuff to look forward to.

First off, they’re bring us the movie ARQ. Starring The Flash‘s Robbie Amell and Jessica Jones‘s Rachael Taylor, Orphan Black‘s Tony Elliott is writing/directing, and Lost City and XYZ Films are producing. ARQ is a post apocalyptic, time looping thriller, and it sounds pretty neat.

Secondly, Netflix is also developing a ten episode series based off of the Richard Morgan cyberpunk novel Altered Carbon. Laeta Kalogridis will write and executive produce the series, which is set in the 25th century.

All of this is good news, as Netflix continues to prove itself as a pretty decent home for genre shows.
