The first trailer for Marvel’s upcoming mega-film Avengers: Infinity War just dropped, and holy crap is it jammed packed full of heroes. I mean, we always knew it would be, but when we only see a couple of major ones show up in the end-of-trailer tag… it’s a lot.
This movie is either going to be amazing or just too full of characters to work, and I’m honestly excited to find out how things work out. I mean, at least we know it looks cool.
It’s been rumored for a while that Anthony and Joe Russo would be taking over the Avengers franchise, but it’s now been confirmed that the brothers have closed a deal with Marvel to take over the biggest centerpiece of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 3.
Joss Whedon, who directed and wrote Avengers and the forthcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron, has stated that he was stepping down from the franchise several times, and with the success of the Russos’ Captain America films, they seem like the best successors. Whedon isn’t leaving Marvel, as Agents of SHIELD continues to hold up the television aspect of the shared universe.
The Russo Brothers got their start in television, where they helped put together two of the greatest comedy series of the last fifteen years (Arrested Development and Community). Considering how integrated the Captain America films have been to the entire Avengers franchise, they are really the best choice to carry on the torch.
This comes from Latino Review (so take it with a huge, boulder sized grain of salt), but there’s a chance Spider-Man might be in Avengers: Infinity War Part 1.
If what Latino Review says is accurate then the article linked above is fairly spoiler heavy – but that’s the big, important bit. The author claims that Sony and Marvel have come to a deal, and that while it’s too late to integrate Spidey into Civil War, the third Avengers film is the perfect spot for him.
Of course, Latino Review doesn’t exactly cite their sources on this one, so it could all be a giant pile of Malarky.
On this episode of the podcast, we talk about Syfy returning to Sci Fi, the massive announcements in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, how GamerGate is ruining EVERYTHING, the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack coming out on cassette tape, and how Funimation is now releasing simultaneous dub releases.
On this episode of Nerd & Tie, we webcast to a live audience for the first time! We also talked about Supergirl coming to CBS, a Teen Titans TV show on TNT, Obi-Wan Kenobi getting his own flick, Deadpool FINALLY getting his own movie, Agent Carter showing up in Agents of SHIELD, Chris Evan’s future as Captain America, Guardians of the Galaxy appearing in Avengers 3, and a Firefly film that amazingly doesn’t suck.
With the success of Guardians of the Galaxy, and the ongoing theory that Thanos (who has appeared in Guardians and the first Avengers film) will be the villain of Avengers 3, it should be no surprise that wild speculation has had the Guardians of the Galaxy appearing in the third Avengers outing.
Well, this seems to have come a whole lot closer to confirmed, as Dave Bautista (who plays Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy) has recently signed a contract in which not only will he appear in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (as expected), but will play a “significant” role in Avengers 3.
No word on the rest of the Guardians cast yet, but one can assume that where one goes, the others follow.
