No New ‘Daredevil’ or ‘Jessica Jones’ Until at Least 2018

Netflix’s corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been pretty resoundingly well received by the fandom, with one season of Jessica Jones and two seasons of Daredevil under its belt. But with so many series in production (as the cumulative franchises head towards The Defenders) and only so much room on the calendar, the question about when we’d see more of the already released series has been floating in the air.

Well, the good news is that season three of Daredevil and season two of Jessica Jones are still on track — but the bad news is that we won’t see them (or The Punisher) until at least 2018.

It makes perfect sense when you look at the schedule though, as Luke Cage comes out this fall, and Iron Fist and The Defenders coming in 2017. Netflix has been pretty clear that they want to put out two Marvel seasons a year, and this sticks with their pattern.

And with the quality of what we’ve gotten, is it such a terrible burden to wait?

Episode 69 – Just a Second (Season)

On this episode of Nerd & Tie, it’s all about second seasons. Supergirl‘s been renewed for one, Daredevil‘s has now premiered on Netflix, and Attack on Titan‘s has been delayed. Besides that, we discuss the announced fifth Indiana Jones film, Space City Comic Con lawsuit, and new developments in the Geek Girl Chicago/Ron Ladao incident.

And we’re all adults. We can see the episode number. Let’s move on.

And Now For the Final ‘Daredevil’ Season 2 Trailer

So Netflix has previously given us two trailers for the upcoming Season 2 of Marvel’s Daredevil — one focuses on the Punisher and one focused on Elektra. Well, yesterday Netflix decided to give us one more… because why not?

Not a lot of commentary to go along with this beyond “neato” and “I want to watch this show,” so nothing too surprising. I’m pretty hyped at the prospect of binge watching (and possibly brainspiking) the season this weekend.

The entirety of Daredevil Season 2 comes to Netflix this Friday, March 18th.

The Elektra Focused ‘Daredevil’ Trailer Has Arrived

On the fifteenth we were given a trailer for the upcoming second season of Daredevil that focused on The Punisher (played by Jon Bernthal). Well, Netflix has put out a new trailer for their groundbreaking Marvel series, and this time it’s focused on Elektra (Elodie Yung).

It’s pretty much everything you’d expect from a Daredevil trailer — some awesomeness with only a little bit of the actual plot teased. So, y’know, just watch the thing.

The entirety of Daredevil Season 2 comes to Netflix March 18th.

New ‘Daredevil’ Season 2 Trailer Focuses on The Punisher

Daredevil kicked off the Netflix corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe last year with a bang. Anticipation has been pretty high for the show’s second season, and a new trailer was released for it earlier today. The new trailer focuses largely on Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher, and the consequences of the very existence of Daredevil. Another trailer, most likely focusing on Elodie Yung’s Elektra, is coming February 25th as well.

The entirety of Daredevil Season 2 comes to Netflix March 18th.

‘Daredevil’ Season 2 Gets Premiere Date, New Teaser

Last year’s first season of Marvel’s Daredevil was an amazing entry into superhero television. It was dark and moody, but still had an amazing heart. It started a pattern of building complex characters and villains that Netflix would continue to perfect with Jessica Jones.

The second season has been highly anticipated, as it will feature both Jon Bernthal as the Punisher and Elodie Yung as Elektra. We expected it to come in mid-2016, but it turns out we’re going to get it a little earlier than that.

Earlier today Netflix released a teaser for the new season, and finally gave us a release date: March 18th. So rejoice friends, the devil of Hell’s Kitchen will be returning in just a few months.

Life’s pretty good.

‘Daredevil’ Season 2 Teaser Leaks

It may not come out until next year, but the Daredevil season 2 teaser that screened at New York Comic Con has already leaked to the vast expanses of the interwebs. It was originally posted to Youtube, but that version has been pulled offline. I’ve embedded a version hosted on a different site, so watch it while you can (y’know, before the lawyers get to it).

There are very few (if any) surprises, but the teaser gives us brief glimpses of both Elektra and the Punisher — and the final line (which is hard to distinguish) is apparently Jon Bernthal’s Punisher saying “beg.”

Daredevil season 2 hits Netflix sometime next year.

Netflix Will Release a New Marvel Season Every Six Months

With Daredevil getting second season, many have been asking exactly how Marvel and Netflix were planning on rolling out the remaining TV series (AKA Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist) which are building towards The Defenders.

Well, Netflix has decided to clarify the matter.

After AKA Jessica Jones premieres later this year, Netflix intends to roll out a new season every six months. Now, that includes things like Season 2 of Daredevil, so we’re still looking at several years before we get to see our heroes team up as The Defenders (at least formally).

Now, we may not end up getting a second season for every show on the list (and shows that get multiple seasons may not get them one per year), but since all the characters are set to reappear (and are geographically close to each other) it’s not like anyone is going to disappear entirely.

‘Daredevil’ Finds Its Elektra in Elodie Yung

Daredevil Season 2 is currently filming, and the Netflix original series has quite a bit lined up for its second outing. Besides Jon Bernthal getting cast as Frank Castle, we’ve known for a few months that Marvel was looking to add Elektra to the cast.

Well, while the actress playing the role last filled onscreen by Jennifer Garner has been a mystery thus far, we now know who is going to step into the assassin’s shoes — Elodie Yung.

Marvel made the announcement yesterday, and she’s definitely an interesting choice. Personally, I think she’s well suited for the role.

Daredevil season 2 is expected to hit Netflix next year.

‘Daredevil’ Season 2 Already Filming

Netflix’s Daredevil was a massive success when it premiered earlier this year, so no one was surprised when it got renewed for a second season. While most didn’t expect filming of season 2 to begin until later this month, apparently they’ve already gotten started — with the first set photos now leaking across the internet:

Most likely this means we’ll get to see things like Jon Bernthal’s Punisher sooner than later — and I’m pretty excited about that prospect.

Of course, those who can’t wait to return to Marvel’s fictionalized version of Hell’s Kitchen don’t need to wait until Daredevil‘s return next year, as AKA Jessica Jones (also set there) is coming out in just a few months.

And that’s pretty exciting all on its own.
