‘Justice League Dark’ Film to Shoot in 2016?

Guillermo Del Toro may no longer be helming the Justice League Dark film, but Warner Bros still seems interested in the project moving forward. According to The Tracking Board, DC and Warner Bros have tapped Scott Rudin to take over the film (which will likely be titled Dark Universe). In fact, if The Tracking Board is to be believed, Warner Bros is aggressively behind the movie, and Dark Universe could start filming as early as 2016.

That is… really soon.

It shouldn’t be too surprising though. Justice League Dark/Dark Universe has been in the planning stage for years. As the film wasn’t a part of DC’s cinematic roadmap, we weren’t exactly expecting it though. Del Toro will remain as a producer on the film, although he’s no longer directing.

The Justice League Dark comic features characters like Zatanna, Deadman and John Constantine. Even though there’s a John Constantine walking around the shared Arrowverse (and who previously had his own now canceled show) played by Matt Ryan, the DC Cinematic Universe would recast the part.

I’m not sure I’ll ever quite understand why DC does what it does while managing its franchises, but as the Constantine show is no longer on the air, at least it’s not going to be as confusing for consumers as some of DC/Warner Bros other choices.

A weird part of me wants to see them bring Keanu Reeves’s version of John Constantine back though…

Guillermo del Toro Has Submitted a Justice League: Dark Script

So after expressing interest in doing a Justice League: Dark film for several year, Guillermo del Toro has finally submitted his script, to Warner Brothers.  Tentatively titled Dark Universe, the film would follow some of the more magical members of the DC Universe. ( Such as Swamp Thing, Zatanna, John Constantine and Deadman.)

Its worth noting that DC did not list Justice League: Dark among their upcoming movies and its not like del Toro doesn’t have a full plate of projects already, but the fact that he appears to be serious about making my one of my dreams come true is really, REALLY exciting.
