The New Deadpool 2 Teaser Is Mostly A Bob Ross Spoof

We took a few days off (since we all went to Daisho Con this last weekend) so we missed a few things last week. One of the big ones was the new teaser for Deadpool 2. There’s a montage of new footage and images in it, but it’s embedded in the middle of a rather on-point Bob Ross spoof.

Personally I think it’s pretty funny, and probably the most Deadpool-like way to promote the movie. The first film had some pretty creative marketing too – though that time around it was because the movie mostly had the freedom to do whatever it wanted (as it was a low priority for Fox). As Deadpool was a remarkably successful film though, his time around they know that stuff worked… so we should expect to see a lot more.

Even the Youtube description for this video isn’t exactly taking this seriously:

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Deadpool 2 comes out June 1, 2018.

Josh Brolin Cast as Cable in Deadpool 2

One of the big questions about the upcoming sequel to the insanely popular Deadpool movie has been who the heck is going to play Cable. I mean, the first movie teased us at the end, and a number of actors have had their names rumored to be attached to the role — none of them panned out though. The wait seems to be over though, as THR is reporting that the part has finally been filled by none other than Josh Brolin.

Brolin is, of course, currently playing Thanos in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, so we can assume production won’t begin until he completes his commitments there. Honestly, the fact that he’s playing a major supervillain in one cinematic universe based off of Marvel comics and a superhero in the other big cinematic universe based on Marvel comics is kind of hilarious. Now if Sony could just cast him in that Venom movie, he could complete the trifecta.

Deadpool 2 is currently scheduled for a January 12, 2018 release.

Zazie Beetz Has Been Cast As Domino in Deadpool 2

There have been a lot of rumors surrounding the cast of Deadpool 2, specifically who the actors playing Cable and Domino will be. And while we still don’t know who is going to play the former, we finally have the latter. While a lot of other names were being thrown a round the last couple of weeks, we now know that actress Zazie Beetz will fill the role of Domino.

The world found out about the casting yesterday, when Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds tweeted out an image of Zazie Beetz’s name spelled out on an image of, well, dominos.

Like all things related the the Deadpool franchise, doing something conventionally is pretty much out of the question. Zazie Beetz isn’t exactly a household name, but she’s probably best known for playing Van on Donald Glover’s Atlanta. It’s a solid casting decision for sure.

Deadpool 2 is currently scheduled for a January 12, 2018 release.

Watch the Deadpool 2 Tease ‘No Good Need’ (Which Played Before ‘Logan’)

Theater goers to Logan this weekend were given a pre-movie teaser for the other R-Rated corner of Fox’s Mutant centric movie universe. The short featuring Deadpool (and in promotion of the upcoming Deadpool 2) is titled “No Good Deed,” and features Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson trying to stop a mugging.

And doing it very, very badly.

There are obvious references to Superman (down to the John Williams movie theme being used), and the whole things was rather funny. There’s even a long diatribe about Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea which scrolls by at the end for some reason. Seeing it though, of course, meant trekking out to a theater — and while you should still do that (as Logan turned out to be amazing), you no longer have to since Ryan Reynolds has now posted a version of the video to Youtube.

The version on Youtube is a little different edit than what we saw in theaters, but only in that a couple of jokes are added in (nothing’s taken out). If you haven’t seen it yet, you should seit down and watch it. If you have seen it, you should sit down and watch it again.

Deadpool 2 is expected to start shooting this June.

Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (and Dopinder) Will All Appear in Deadpool 2

When they were making the first Deadpool, they filmmakers were given little budget and had to pretty much beg to get any of the X-Men in the movie. Getting both Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead wasn’t an easy task… and almost no one had ever heard of Negasonic Teenage Warhead before Deadpool.

Things are a little bit different planning for the sequel though, especially since Deadpool completely crushed mainstream X-Men film X-Men: Apocalypse in the worldwide box office numbers. We’ve known Deadpool 2 was going to include a lot more characters than the first film, but many have asked if the Moody Teenager and CGI Character would appear for a second time as well.

Well, the answer seems to be very much yes. Continue reading Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (and Dopinder) Will All Appear in Deadpool 2

Director Tim Miller Has Left Deadpool 2

Last February’s Deadpool became the the biggest rated R movie of all time in no small part because of the collaboration between director Tim Miller and star Ryan Reynolds. And while Miller initially signed on to the forthcoming sequel, apparently he and Reynolds didn’t see eye to eye on the direction of the film… and apparently Tim Miller has now left the film.

While the departure on Friday was apparently amicable, it was over the creative direction of the film. Reynolds wants the sequel to maintain the comedic, fourth wall breaking tone established in the first film, while Miller wanted to create a more stylized film.

The straw that apparently broke the camels back was the casting of Kyle Chandler as Cable. Chandler was Miller’s choice, but Reynolds disagreed — and as Reynolds has casting approval on the film, the studio sided with the star.

Whatever happens with the film, it’s still expected to see a 2018 release.

Episode 67 – Deadpool and Destruction

On this episode we talk about Deadpool‘s remarkable turn at the box office, Fox considering an R rating for Wolverine 3, the unfortunate continuation of the Battlestar Galactica reboot, Bryan Fuller taking the reigns of the upcoming Star Trek TV series, the final nail in TCE2‘s coffin, and how y’all really need to stop trashing convention hotels.

Seriously. Stop it.
