With Doctor Who and Intruders, August 23rd is Looking Good on BBC America

So Doctor Who, in all of its Peter Capaldi Twelfth Doctor glory, is coming back August 23rd both on BBC One in the UK and BBC America in the United States. In the United States though, we also get the premiere of the BBC America original series Intruders immediately following Doctor Who (Who airs 8pm/7pm Central and Intruders at 9pm/8pm Central).

Intruders stars John Simm (yes… THAT John Simm) and Mira Sorvino (yes… THAT Mira Sorvino), and the entire show looks deliciously dark and suspenseful. It’s based on the Michael Marshall Smith book The Intruders, and it involves a creepy little girl.

And there is nothing scarier than a creepy little girl.

Episode 14 – The DC Carnival of Sadness

On this fortnight’s episode we mourn the passing of Justin Carmical, cheer ourselves up with talking about Marvel’s cinematic universe, get a little sadder with DC’s cinematic future, feel okay with Star Wars episode VII getting a new script… and finally feel pretty happy about the new looks for both the Ninja Turtles and the Doctor.

Man, a TMNT/Doctor Who crossover would be great…

Episode 12 – Barely Legal Pizza

On this post-Holidays episode of Nerd & Tie we talk about how god-awful cold it is out there, the Doctor Who Christmas Special, Sherlock’s return, Space Dandy (which we almost forgot about), Star Wars returning to Marvel comics, Community’s return to the airwaves, and your messages to us in the mailbag.

We really do love reading your messages.

Episode 10 – Routh’s Still Relevant

On this amazing installment, we review Daisho Con, finally talk about the 50th Doctor Who special for realsies, Man of Steel 2’s Wonder Woman gets cast, Singer hints at Mr. Torso Extension himself “Apocalypse” showing up in the X-men films, Aki Con is the worst convention ever to unfunny and depressing degrees, and we answer your emails.

Also, Brandon Routh is totally still relevant and we love him.

And his tiny red shorts.

Episode 9 – Live at Daisho Con!

Our ninth installment was recorded live at Daisho Con 2013 in the Wisconsin Dells! We talk about Thor 2, the (sadly) continued existence of Heroes of Cosplay, the Night of the Doctor and, since we recorded this hours before the real 50th Anniversary Doctor Who episode aired, we make up what happened in the special.

It’s fun.

Episode 7 – Gotsta Have Fusion!

On this fortnight’s Nerd & Tie we talk about Red Dwarf series 11 rumors, Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, Pher’s trip to Anime Fusion, Star Wars Episode VII getting a new writer, the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special and the announcement of new iPads.

Also we find ways to talk about Bryan Fuller and Transformers somehow. We’re not sure how we got there either.

Episode 6 – A 90s Revelation

The band is back together for our sixth episode where we talk about FOX picking up Gotham (a pre-Batman police procedural), Linda Carter’s Man of Steel 2/Wonder Woman comments, Stephanie Brown’s unbenching by DC, Star Trek Renegades, Star Wars Rebels, (My) Immortal’s season 2 kickstarter, and the newly recovered episodes of Doctor Who.

Also, revelations about Trae in the 90s.

It’s not as exciting as it sounds.

But it’s kind of funny.

Also: Link to the My Immortal Kickstarter.

Episode 1 – Inaguration-tastic!

In our first episode we talk about the newly announced 12th Doctor, the future of both Marvel and DC on the big screen, podcast sensation “Welcome to Night Vale,” the webseries version of “My Immortal,” and finally just why Pacific Rim is better than everything else.

Because it is.

Trust us on that.
