Donald Glover is Making a ‘Deadpool’ Animated Series at FXX

The multitalented Donald Glover, along with his brother Stephen Glover, are officially making an animated Deadpool television series for FXX. Donald Glover is, of course, a talented actor, rapper, and writer, and his television series Atlanta has been incredibly well received.

The network has ordered the show straight to series, and will have a ten episode first season. No word yet on voice actors for the show, but it’s still early days for the project. While the show won’t have any continuity ties to the Deadpool film franchise, that’s the tone the network will be aiming for.

The animated Deadpool series is expected to premiere sometime in 2018.

Donald Glover Will Play Lando Calrissian in the Young Han Solo Film

Donald Glover, who is arguably one of the most talented people working in show business today, has officially been cast as young Lando Calrissian in the (still untitled) Young Han Solo Star Wars Anthology film. Glover will, of course, be taking over the role from the talented Billy Dee Williams, who portrayed the character in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Alden Ehrenreich, of course, will be playing Han Solo in the film, and it’s currently expected to have a 2018 release (between Episodes VIII and IX). Originally we weren’t too excited about this movie, as it’s a part of Han Solo’s life we, for the most part, don’t really care about. The casting of Donald Glover though has kind of turned us around on the project. He’s an amazing actor, and we’re hoping he features prominently in the project.

Y’know, because Donald Glover and everything.

Episode 84 – Just Under The Wire

On this episode of Nerd & Tie, we talk about the SAG-AFTRA strike against the biggest video game companies out there, Tim Miller exiting Deadpool 2, Donald Glover getting cast as Lando Calrissian in the Han Solo anthology film, we let Nick talk about Shin Godzilla, Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 gets a teaser, Logan gets a trailer, and Pher and Nick went to some conventions.

There’s a lot packed into this one.

Donald Glover Joins the Cast of ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

The last time the Spider-Man film franchise got rebooted, a lot of us really wanted Community‘s Donald Glover to take over the role of Peter Parker. While that sadly didn’t materialize, we did get to hear Glover voice the other Spider-Man (Miles Morales) on an episode of Disney XD’s Ultimate Spider-Man a few years later.

Glover’s orbit of the franchise seems to be continuing though, because while he won’t be slinging any webs, it’s being reported now that Glover has been cast in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

No word yet on who Glover will be playing, but he’s frankly a talented enough actor to play either a hero or a villain. I’m hoping he’s someone out of left field you’d never expect, like Doc Ock or Kraven. I mean it’s unlikely, but a guy can hope.

Spider-Man: Homecoming comes out on July 7, 2017.

Donald Glover Is Finally Spider-Man… Sort Of

To be specific, Donald Glover will be voicing Miles Morales (the current Spider-Man in the “Ultimate” comics continuity) in an upcoming episode of the “Ultimate Spider-Man” TV series (which has absolutely no relationship with the identically named comic Morales is the star of).

Confused yet?

Anywho, in the next season of the Disney XD television series Peter Parker (who is still Spider-Man in the show) will be universe hopping in pursuit of the Green Goblin (who is trying to steal the DNA of every Spider-Man he can). One of those realities will closely mirror the Ultimate-comics universe… so yeah, a universe where Peter Parker is dead and Miles Morales is Spider-Man. So, TV-Ultimate Spider-Man will be introducing a TV-Ultimate version of the Comics-Ultimate Spider-Man.

My ears are now bleeding, so here’s a clip:
