Millie Bobby Brown Cast in Godzilla 2

Twelve year old Millie Bobby Brown was one of the more unexpected breakout stars of 2016. I mean, no one expected anything about Netflix’s Stranger Things (or new it was even going to be a thing), but her performance was outstanding in it. Brown in now making the transition from the small screen to the big one though, as it’s now been announced that she’s been cast in the upcoming sequel to 2014’s Godzilla.

Godzilla 2 (as it’s currently being reffered to) recently found its director with Michael Dougherty taking the helm. We don’t know much about the film’s story beyond, y’know, Godzilla showing up, but we assume at some point he’ll walk through a city and fight someone.

Just playing the odds.

Godzilla 2 is currently scheduled for a March 22, 2019 release.

Legendary’s Godzilla 2 Has Found a Director

Legendary’s 2014 remake of Godzilla may not have been the best Godzilla film ever made, but it was still a pretty decent one. Because the film did well financially, a sequel was greenlit. Unfortunately, Gareth Edwards (who directed the first one) was unavailable, so a new director needed to be found.

Well, they seem to have finally found a successor in Michael Dougherty. Dougherty, who previously directed Krampus, is already co-writing the film with Zach Shields and is running the writer’s room for Legendary’s MonsterVerse, so he looks like the obvious choice.

Honestly, since he’s already pretty much dominating the creative future of the franchise, it makes sense for Legendary and Warner Bros to entrust him with the film. Here’s hoping that Godzilla 2 is a worthy successor to the 2014 remake (let alone the franchise as a whole).

Godzilla 2 is currently scheduled for a March 22, 2019 release.

Godzilla vs King Kong Gets Firm Release Date, Godzilla 2 Delayed

Legendary’s 2014 remake of Godzilla was generally enjoyed around these parts, and we’ve been waiting pretty patiently for a follow up. Initially we were told that Godzilla 2 would be coming June 8th 2018, but sadly that’s not the case anymore.

Don’t worry, it’s still coming — just not as soon.

The Wrap is reporting that Godzilla 2 has a new release date, and it’s now not coming until March 22, 2019. That delay is likely because Paramount’s Transformers 6 is also scheduled for the June 2018 weekend, and Warner Bros and Legendary want to avoid the competition. The same report also finally gives a firm release date to Godzilla vs. King Kong (which will bring Godzilla up against the version of King Kong which will appear in 2017’s Skull Island). That film is now coming out May 29, 2020.

Honestly, I’m a little excited about Legendary’s ongoing shared-kaiju universe. Frankly, the more giant monsters punching each other I can see on screen, the better. While I’m a little sad to see Godzilla 2 getting delayed, it’s obviously the best business move for the studios.

I just hope it’s good when it finally gets here.
