The New Trailer For ‘Godzilla: Monster Planet’ Looks Pretty Damned Amazing

I’m just going to be honest here — Godzilla: Monster Planet‘s new trailer looks plain amazing. We got our first tease of the film last month, but now we have a much better look at the film, and I couldn’t be more excited.

The premise is simple — monsters have taken over the earth. Humanity tried to find a new home, but was unable to find a suitable new planet to live on… so they have to go back and actually deal with Godzilla. The film was first announced back in the spring, and it’s just super neat looking.

Godzilla: Monster Planet comes to theaters in Japan this November, followed by an international release on Netflix.

The First Trailer for ‘Godzilla: Monster Planet’ Is Pretty Neat

Back in March it was announced that an original animated Godzilla movie was coming to theaters in Japan and Netlix internationally. A few weeks later, we got some basic plot details and the title of the film — Godzilla: Monster Planet.

And now we have a trailer.

Well, I say “trailer,” but it’s really just a brief thirty second spot. In any case though, it’s our first look at the animated film. What we can see here is pretty great though, so I’m excited about it the movie at least.

All the Details About Netflix’s Animated Godzilla Film So Far

A couple of weeks ago it was announced that Netflix would be the world wide distributor for a new Godzilla Anime film. Initially details were pretty scarce, but since then new information has trickled out about the film. To help you sort through it, we’ve collected as much as we can and put it all here in one place.

To start with, as we previously reported, Polygon Pictures making the film for Toho. The movie will get a limited Japanese theatrical run, and will be distributed by Netflix globally. Gen Urobuchi is writing the script, with Hiroyuki Seshita and Kôbun Shizuno co-directing the film.

As for new information, for starters there’s now an official synopsis of the film (now titled Godzilla: Monster Planet). /Film has an English translation of it: Continue reading All the Details About Netflix’s Animated Godzilla Film So Far

A Godzilla Anime Film Is Coming to Netflix Later This Year

So Godzilla is just all over the place. With literally two Godzilla film franchises happening at the same time, the big guy is seemingly all over the place. I mean Toho’s Shin Godzilla in 2016 was amazing, and the follow up to Legendary’s 2014 revival has two sequels green lit. The king of monsters is pretty much everywhere.

And he’s about to show up in animated form too.

Japanese animation company Polygon Pictures is working on an animated Godzilla film for Toho which will get a limited theatrical run, and will be distributed by Netflix globally. Gen Urobuchi is writing the script, with Hiroyuki Seshita and Kôbun Shizuno co-directing the film.

The best part? The film, just titled Godzilla, is expected later this year.

Honestly, I’m pretty excited about this. I mean, yeah — calling it just Godzilla is going to make writing or talking about it complicated, but it’s another Godzilla movie. I think most of us want as many versions of the big guy on our screens as we can get.
