Episode 103 – Looking Backwards

On this episode of Nerd & Tie we return from our annual semi-hiatus to discuss Wonder Woman 2 getting a release date, Stargate is getting a made-for-the-web prequel, the Robotech movie has a new director (and is apparently still happening), Kitsune Kon banned Youtuber ‘DesolatorMagic,’ Pokemon Go Fest was a bit of a mess, Louisville’s Fandom Fest was an outright disaster con, and Nick and Gen went to Anime Iowa.

It’s an audio only episode, but mostly because we’re still ironing out our kinks.

Kitsune Kon Bans Youtuber ‘DesolatorMagic’ Due to Weapons Concerns

Kitsune Kon is taking place at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay, WI, but at least one person who planned on attending won’t be let in the door. The convention made an announcement earlier today stating that Youtuber ‘DesolatorMagic’ has been officially banned from the event due to safety concerns.

In a video posted on July 1st where DesolatorMagic announced he was attending the con, he stated “considering the sheer volume of threats I get on Twitter and on Youtube and Reddit and everywhere else — if you so much as look at me wrong, I’m probably going to stab you. So just FYI — you might not want to freak me out. You might want to come at me within my full vision arc and kind of slowly. That said, if you do want to fight me, just announce it first. No cheap shots, or I will shoot you.” In context it’s actually really difficult to tell how serious he is, but as DesolatorMagic repeatedly mentions he carries a gun in his other videos (and also talks about having had to pull it out), it’s clear he’s serious enough. Episode 78 – Please Don’t Explode

On this episode of Nerd & Tie, the MST3K Revival has found a home on Netflix, SDCC sees the release of Justice League and Wonder Woman trailers, we finally find out who’s in Supergirl’s pod, Ghost Rider’s coming to Agents of SHIELD, Brie Larson’s been cast as Captain Marvel, the new Star Trek show has a name (and ship), and Trae and Nick went to Kitsune Kon.

And our computers barely kept themselves together… it was rough.

Note: Due to the normal server we stream to being down, we were forced to record this on a local machine… that couldn’t quite keep up. It gets a bit unsynchronized and the show goes on. And by “a bit” I mean “a lot.”

Episode 43 – Loosed Basely

On this episode of Nerd & Tie we remember the late Terry Pratchett, dive into Nick and Pher’s weekend at Kitsune Kon, lament CHI-FI’s inability to do PR or communicate, get amazed by the antics of Fantasticon Milwaukee, talk about the No Boys Dorm Kickstarter, entertain the idea of the “Con Man” webseries, and get confused by Mallrats 2 being a thing.

Also, Sony is screwing up the Ghostbusters franchise, big time.

Episode 18 – Textbook Sassypants Discovery Manual

On this episode, we talk about three conventions (Kitsune Kon, Karoshi Con and The INDYpendent Show), Shaq Fu 2, first looks at Gotham, set photos from Age of Ultron, the new Ninja Turtles Trailer, and we let Nick talk about Gundam.

And we swear the title will make sense, too.
