We Know What Nathan Fillion’s Cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Is

Nathan Fillion and James Gunn are good friends, and his cameo in the first Guardians of the Galaxy was the subject of a metric crap ton of speculation. While people wondered if Fillion would end up as a number of different characters in that film, his actual cameo turned out to be a minor role as a random alien prisoner (that many didn’t even notice).

But hey, it was funny.

As the sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2., is currently in production, Fillion has yet again been on set to film a small part. This time around though, it’s actually a somewhat notable character… and if you want to avoid spoilers, you should probably stop reading this somewhere about here. The ‘Con Man’ Trailer Is Pretty Damned Funny

Last spring Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion launched a crowdfunding campaign to make “Con Man,” a series written and directed by Tudyk about an actor who peaked making a cult Scifi TV series in the early 2000s and spends his time doing convention appearances (and his much more successful former co-star who has gone on to significantly more success).

To say it’s mildly based on an exaggerated version of reality would probably be an understatement.

Anyway, the series premieres this September, and they now have a trailer out. and it looks hilarious.

So you should watch it.

Episode 43 – Loosed Basely

On this episode of Nerd & Tie we remember the late Terry Pratchett, dive into Nick and Pher’s weekend at Kitsune Kon, lament CHI-FI’s inability to do PR or communicate, get amazed by the antics of Fantasticon Milwaukee, talk about the No Boys Dorm Kickstarter, entertain the idea of the “Con Man” webseries, and get confused by Mallrats 2 being a thing.

Also, Sony is screwing up the Ghostbusters franchise, big time.

Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion Reuniting For ‘Con Man’ Web Series

On Tuesday, Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion rolled out an IndieGogo campaign for a new webseries written by Tudyk titled “Con Man.” By Wednesday night, it reached 200% of its goal. And the numbers keep going up.

So this is a thing that is totally happening.

Con Man is a webseries that will follow an actor (played by Tudyk) who had co-starred as the pilot on a science fiction show that was cancelled far too soon. Fillion will play the actor who was the Captain on said series. If this is sounding familiar, it should.

Fillion’s character will have gone on to great fame and success, but Tudyk’s character has been toiling in obscurity, making his living doing convention appearances.

And, as I have long insisted, the people running conventions are probably the most entertaining and weird part of any event.

Here’s the introductory video for the campaign:

You can find the Indigogo campaign here, and the campaign runs until April 10th if you still want to contribute.

Thanks KORfan!
