On this episode of Nerd & Tie, Gen Prock is sitting in for Nick Izumi (who is off rehearsing a play). We tackle the full cast announcement of the revived MST3K, Frank Miller’s bizarre desire to make a fourth Dark Knight installment, the trailer for Captain America: Civil War, Supergirl getting a full season order, Kevin Bacon shopping around a new Tremors TV show, and what happened when Pher and Gen went to Daisho Con.
In an update to the ongoing MST3K Revival Kickstarter, series creator Joel Hodgson revealed the final new cast member for the returning series: Patton Oswalt.
Oswalt will be playing “TV’s Son of TV’s Frank,” the assistant Mad on the new series. He joins fellow mad Felicia Day’s Kinga Forrester, Jonah Ray as the new “test subject,” as well as the new ‘bot voices Baron Vaughn (Servo) and Hampton Yount (Crow).
Oswalt’s casting is a late addition to the show, as he hadn’t been approached until after the kickstarter had already begun (hence no fancy video revealing him), but his addition seems appropriate considering Oswalt’s considerable nerd-cred.
