On this SPECIAL EPISODE of Nerd & Tie which we weren’t expecting to actually record, we discuss the casting of Doctor Who‘s thirteenth Doctor. Jodie Whittaker will be taking over as the eponymous Time Lord, and we share our thoughts, how parts of the internet lost their collective minds (due to more than one X chromosome), and then dig into a bunch of Doctor Who randomness to fill time!
Also, we’re sorry it’s a little quiet — we’re still trying to get the sound right in the new studio.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiered this weekend, so of course we decided to do an special episode about it. Like all of our earlier special episodes this one is filled with spoilers, so you probably shouldn’t listen to it or watch it if you haven’t seen the movie yet.
We warned you.
Sadly, circumstances made it so only Nick and Trae were on hand to discuss the much anticipated Episode VII – but they still have a lot of thoughts on the matter. So sit back, buckle up, and enjoy our (slightly over an hour long) review of the film.
On a very special episode of Nerd & Tie, we talk about Avengers: Age of Ultron and literally nothing else. Because we’re insane, we decided to double the room by adding previous guest host Rena Innocenti, regular listener Random Ramblings Man and Famicom Dojo’s Sean Corse.
Because we are masochists.
And we also discovered that larger panels don’t necessarily work so well — but hey, we gave it a shot anyway.
This episode was sponsored by Zach Fisher by the way, because he’s a cool dude.
On this very special live episode of Nerd & Tie, recorded live at Daisho Con 2014, we devote the show to you, the listener. That’s right, it’s our first feedback special, where we answer your letters and directly respond to members of the audience live at the Kalahari Resort in the Wisconsin Dells!
We’ve been waiting with great anticipation since it was announced, and now Guardians of the Galaxy is here! So, like we’ve done a few other times, rather than spend a mere ten minutes on it, we’ve decided to expand our thoughts on the film to a full length episode!
Because we could!
So sit back, relax, and listen to our thoughts on what may be one of the greatest films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe canon… if you’ve seen the movie already.
So hey, it’s Sunday night and you’re probably expecting a fresh, new episode of Nerd & Tie! Well, tough cookies kids – due to some technical limitations we decided to delay the episode a week (shifting the schedule forward a week so we’ll eventually line up with Geek.kon too). We didn’t want to leave you hanging though, so since we’ve been doing the show for almost exactly a year, we thought we’d put out a “Best of” episode for you!
This is a collection of all of our favorite moments from the first year of Nerd & Tie, bundled together into one brilliant episode.
In this episode we go back to when Pher talked with (My) Immortal creator Brian McLellan, our pre-50th Anniversary Doctor Who rampant speculation, Nick explaining Kikaider to the rest of us, our predictions on Cosplay trends, and how a good chunk of Americans think HTML is an STD. There are other bits in there too, so spend an hour revisiting the last year with us.
On this very special edition of Nerd & Tie, we devote an entire episode to the newest X-Men film, Days of Future Past. Nick and Trae are joined by Sean “SeanOrange” Corse of Famicom Dojo (as Pher hasn’t seen the film), as our heroes dissect not just this film but its place in the X-Men film franchise.
And Fist of the Northstar gets mentioned for some reason.
History shows again and again how nature points out the folly of men. Or at least history shows how a ten minute segment on a regular episode couldn’t contain our opinions on Godzilla. Because we have a lot. Enough to fill an entire episode.
So we interrupted our fortnightly schedule to bring you this: our Godzilla Special!
