Updated fortnightly, the Nerd & Tie Podcast dives into our geeky world head first. Nick, Trae and Gen go into indepth discussions on all topics nerdy and geeky, and hope to come out with something interesting at the end. Usually they do.

Episode 110 – Unexpected Attacks

On this episode of Nerd & Tie we tackle Marvel’s New Warriors‘s search for a new network, give a spoiler free review of Thor: Ragnarok, contemplate Zachary Levi’s casting in Shazam!, and consider CBS All Access rebooting The Twilight Zone. We also talk about how Libya’s second annual Comic Con was shut down by an armed militia.

So yeah, things had to get a bit serious at the end.

Episode 109 – A Thing That Happened

On this episodes we celebrate Star Trek: Discovery‘s renewal, discuss Doctor Who‘s announced new companions, feel relief at the Han Solo movie finally having a title, get confused at the Settlers of Catan movie, and get elated that Constantine will get to be bisexual on Legends of Tomorrow.

Gen also went to Anime Fusion, and we discuss the differences between Wisconsin and Minnesota cons.

Episode 108 – Not Quite Drift Compatible

On this episode of Nerd & Tie we talk about Amazon developing new TV shows based on Snow Crash, Ringworld and Lazarus to start. We also talk about the new trailer for Pacific Rim: Uprising, how the Sonic the Hedgehog live action movie is still happening, Time Lord Expo getting cancelled just weeks before the con, and the sorry state of Wizard World.

It’s exciting.

Episode 107 – It’s Been a Long Road

On this episode of Nerd & Tie we review the first new episodes of Star Trek in over a decade with Star Trek: Discovery, tackle J.J. Abrams taking over Star Wars Episode IX, contemplate the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina coming to The CW, and then… well then we hit the con scene. In that corner, we have Anime Punch disbanding because their founder is now a convicted sex offender, and Rose City Comic Con is taking a stronger stance against Nazi cosplay.

So, y’know, fun stuff.

Episode 106 – Unceremonious Exits

On this episode we discuss a couple of notable exits — Colin Trevorrow getting canned from Star Wars Episode IX and Ed Skrein quitting the Hellboy film amidst whitewashing concerns. On a similar theme, Syfy has cancelled Blood Drive and Dark Matter, and the BBC has decided to not renew Doctor Who spinoff Class. We also tackle Joss Whedon getting a screenwriting credit on Justice League, and two people were injured when chairs were thrown from a balcony at Dragon Con. We start by touching on the recent losses of Len Wein and Jerry Pournelle.

Gen’s on vacation, so it’s just Trae and Nick — but hey, video is working again!

Episode 105 – Technical Difficulties

What kind of episode do we record after spending forty-five minutes trying to get our cameras to work and failing? Apparently a fairly normal one, albeit an audio only installment. In this, we discuss the Good Omens casting news, the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie, and Netflix’s atrocious Death Note adaptation. Then we hit the con scene, where we talk about the Avalon Expo organizer disappearing mid-con and how much fun we had at Geek.kon last weekend.

And yes, we address the Nazi cosplayer and a bunch of other stuff.

Episode 104 – The Rainwater Blues

On this episode of Nerd & Tie we make our triumphant return to video! We talk about the Anime News Network hack, Disney planning its own streaming service, and Netflix buying Millarworld. Then we head to the con scene, where Angry Goat Productions is at it again (and using a different name), five GeekGirlCon staffers have quit claiming “reverse racism,” and Otakon had a rain drainage system dump all over their artist alley.

Yeah, that happened.

Episode 103 – Looking Backwards

On this episode of Nerd & Tie we return from our annual semi-hiatus to discuss Wonder Woman 2 getting a release date, Stargate is getting a made-for-the-web prequel, the Robotech movie has a new director (and is apparently still happening), Kitsune Kon banned Youtuber ‘DesolatorMagic,’ Pokemon Go Fest was a bit of a mess, Louisville’s Fandom Fest was an outright disaster con, and Nick and Gen went to Anime Iowa.

It’s an audio only episode, but mostly because we’re still ironing out our kinks.

Special: ‘Doctor Who’ Casts Jodie Whittaker as 13th Doctor

On this SPECIAL EPISODE of Nerd & Tie which we weren’t expecting to actually record, we discuss the casting of Doctor Who‘s thirteenth Doctor. Jodie Whittaker will be taking over as the eponymous Time Lord, and we share our thoughts, how parts of the internet lost their collective minds (due to more than one X chromosome), and then dig into a bunch of Doctor Who randomness to fill time!

Also, we’re sorry it’s a little quiet — we’re still trying to get the sound right in the new studio.

Episode 102 – The Grand Switcheroo

On this (audio only) episode of the Nerd & Tie podcast, we celebrate Wonder Woman‘s victory at the box office, give a spoiler-free review of Spider-Man: Homecoming, ponder HBO developing a Watchmen television show, and consider the ramifications of Phil Lord and Chris Miller getting booted from the (still untitled) Han Solo Star Wars Anthology film. Then we hit the con scene, where Titan Fan Con messed up big time, and Emerald City Comicon finally settled their “minions/volunteer” lawsuit.

This is also the first episode recorded from the new production studio, so please forgive our settling in.
