Episode 33 – Simuldubtastic!

On this episode of the podcast, we talk about Syfy returning to Sci Fi, the massive announcements in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, how GamerGate is ruining EVERYTHING, the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack coming out on cassette tape, and how Funimation is now releasing simultaneous dub releases.

We’re scared about that last one.

We remember the 90s.

Marvel Announces Phase 3 Movies, Including Captain Marvel and Black Panther

Kevin Feige took to the stage today and announced the entire slate of Marvel Phase 3 films. You can head over to Marvel.com for the full details, but importantly the highlights include:

Seriously folks, head on over to the Marvel master post about this, because it’s a lot…

…and it’s awesome.

Thanks Wurm!

Episode 32 – Have You Tried Turning It Off And On Again

On this fortnight’s installment of the podcast, we talk about Squirrel Girl’s upcoming solo series, the complete DC Carnival of Sadness film lineup (including Wonder Woman), Iron Man in Captain America 3, The IT Crowd getting (another) American remake, Pher’s experiences at Anime Fusion and Nick’s opinions on Anime News Network reviewer Theron Martin.

He has some thoughts.

Could Iron Man joining Captain America 3 mean something Uncivil?

Robert Downey Jr. is still part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he may be signing on for a shocking part in the third Captain America film. Things are looking more and more like this wont be a team-up, so much as Iron Man acting as a villain, as he was in Civil War.

Rumors of a Civil War adaptation have been circling around for years, and they’ve only intensified since Captain America: The Winter Soldier borrowed several elements from that story.  But this would be a pretty dark step for such a popular character.  It would also be a really ballsy move for Marvel to bust out their own “versus” movie so close to Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

No lie though, I would love to see this happen.

Episode 30 – Prophet of Doom

On this episode of Nerd & Tie, we webcast to a live audience for the first time! We also talked about Supergirl coming to CBS, a Teen Titans TV show on TNT, Obi-Wan Kenobi getting his own flick, Deadpool FINALLY getting his own movie, Agent Carter showing up in Agents of SHIELD, Chris Evan’s future as Captain America, Guardians of the Galaxy appearing in Avengers 3, and a Firefly film that amazingly doesn’t suck.

Seriously, you should watch it.

It’s pretty awesome.

Also we talk about the “Ender’s Game” movie from a while back at the beginning. Because Trae made the mistake of watching it.

Chris Evans Says He’s Staying Captain America

Since Chris Evans’s contract to play Captain America is up after Captain America 3, there has been rampant speculation that Evans would pass the torch within the third film. With the introduction of two characters who have also carried Cap’s shield in the second Captain America film, it seemed almost certain that it would occur.

Well… not according to Chris Evans.

When speaking to MTV, Evans said:

“Who’s handing off the shield? Don’t take my job from me prematurely dude,” Evans said. “I’m sure it’ll happen at some point, all good things have to come to an end. But I’m really happy playing the character.”

So yeah. It seems we’ll continue to have Mr. Evans playing Steve Rogers for the foreseeable future.

Episode 26 – Incompetence, Not Malice

On this installment of the podcast, we discuss the DashCon fiasco, the Awesome Con conundrum, and the hopes of the Nezumi Con Indiegogo campaign.

We also talk about the changes coming to Marvel comics with different characters taking up the helms of Thor and Captain America, Arrowverse casting, Harmony Gold not being awful for once, Homestar Runner coming back from the dead, and the expansion of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.

It’s exciting.

A New Captain America Rises!

So after the announcement of Female Thor, people have been watching Marvel with a bit of curiosity it seems. And Marvel, not being a company to waste good hype, did not disappoint as they revealed a major change for yet another one of the big three Avengers. A new Captain America is coming, and its former Falcon Sam Wilson.

falconcap

Now Sam was definitely the breakout character of The Winter Soldier film, so there’s no question he’s popular, but after decades of being Cap’s partner, it will be quite the change to see him as the lead for a bit. Now because Steve is my favorite superhero, it’ll certainly be something to get used to, but Sam’s such a great character it should work.

The only thing I’m not looking forward to in this is how upset every racist comic book reader is gonna be that Captain America is black.

Episode 19 – Insert David Goyer Joke Here

On this episode we talk about Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, the current arc on Agents of SHIELD, David S. Goyer’s comments on the (lack of a) DC Cinematic Universe, Battlestar Galactica getting a reboot, Amazon buying Comixology, the upcoming No Brand Con, and we let Nick talk about… Megan Fox?

Yep. This is a thing.

A thing that has happened.

Episode 18 – Textbook Sassypants Discovery Manual

On this episode, we talk about three conventions (Kitsune Kon, Karoshi Con and The INDYpendent Show), Shaq Fu 2, first looks at Gotham, set photos from Age of Ultron, the new Ninja Turtles Trailer, and we let Nick talk about Gundam.

And we swear the title will make sense, too.
