Episode 73 – Making it Harder

On this episode of Nerd & Tie, Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War is closing in on one billion dollars, Agent Carter has been cancelled by ABC, and Supergirl is getting a second season along with a new network. The convention scene’s where the interesting news is a though, as Anime Midwest is sharing space with a Porn convention, Santa Fe Comic Con’s staff has a PR disaster on their hands, and Anime Expo is requiring vendors to pay for background checks.

Sh*t just got real.

‘Captain America: Civil War’ Review

On this episode of The Off Week, Trae sits down and does a quick review of the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe film “Captain America: Civil War.” Spoiler: He liked it.

The Off Week” is a series of videos produced by Nerd & Tie in the weeks where we aren’t producing a full length podcast. The goal is to raise questions and make you think about things that you’ve maybe taken for granted.

The New ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Trailer Swings Onto the Internet

So Captain America: Civil War is probably one of the most anticipated films of 2016, and with good reason. The idea of watching a bunch of superheroes punch each other is pretty appealing… and I mean, I guess there’s character driven drama and sociopolitical commentary too.

But c’mon, punching!

We got the first trailer for the film back in November, but today we got another one for Marvel’s upcoming punch fest. It’s more of the same, and while pretty cool to watch, doesn’t really offer anyth… WAIT IS THAT SPIDER-MAN?! THAT’S TOTALLY SPIDER-MAN. AWESOME!

I mean, it’s like just a few seconds of Spider-Man, but still!

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters May 6, 2016.

Episode 61 – In Constant Pain

On this episode of Nerd & Tie, Gen Prock is sitting in for Nick Izumi (who is off rehearsing a play). We tackle the full cast announcement of the revived MST3K, Frank Miller’s bizarre desire to make a fourth Dark Knight installment, the trailer for Captain America: Civil War, Supergirl getting a full season order, Kevin Bacon shopping around a new Tremors TV show, and what happened when Pher and Gen went to Daisho Con.

It’s super fun.

So the ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Trailer is Finally Here

Civil War? Civil War. Captain America? Captain America. Captain America Civil War? Captain America Civil War. Captain America: Civil War.

May 6, 2016? May 6, 2016.

Spoilers: Leaked ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Art Confirms Who is on What Side

We’re pretty hyped about Captain America: Civil War. I mean, it’s the anti-Avengers movie. One of the big questions about the film has been who exactly was going to end up on what side in the movie adaptation of this well known comics arc.

And now we kind of know.

Several promotional pieces of art have leaked from the film, and have mostly answered the question. I mean some of these, like Sharon Carter, were kind of obvious — but still.

Beware, there be spoilers beyond this point.

‘Captain America: Civil War’ Wraps Principal Photography

Captain America: Civil War is probably one of the most anticipated films coming out next year. Almost every major character is set to appear in the film, and it just looks awesome.

Well, according to Marvel Co-President Louis Esposito tweeted out that the Russo Brothers helmed film has officially wrapped principal photography:

It’s good to know that the film is moving forward on schedule, and I’m personally excited.

Captain America: Civil War comes out May 6th 2016.

Martin Freeman Joins Cast of ‘Captain America: Civil War’

Martin Freeman, like his Sherlock co-star Benedict Cumberbatch, apparently is determined to appear in just about everything imaginable. I mean, besides being one of the more popular Watsons in recent memory, he’s also been Bilbo Baggins and Arthur Dent.

And now? Now Freeman is entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel announced today that Freeman is joining the cast of Captain America: Civil War, bringing him into probably one of the most complex cinematic stories of a generation.

Marvel has not announced who Freeman will be playing, but it must be a major part if they were going to make such a high profile announcement about it.

Hawkeye to Appear in ‘Captain America: Civil War’

According to THR, Jeremy Renner will appear as Hawkeye in Captain America: Civil War. He joins an ever expanding cast which includes Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, and Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier.

Some have said this undercuts the danger regarding which characters will and won’t survive Avengers: Age of Ultron, but I’m not sure. Frankly, any characters can appear in a flashback if they don’t make it through. Flashing back to a dead character can be a pretty powerfully motivating scene after all.

So, y’know, nothing is ever for certain.

Will Cap 3 Introduce Baron Zemo?

A casting list from Captain America: Civil War reportedly indicates that Daniel Bruhl will be playing the good Captain’s hooded enemy Baron Zemo.

Honestly, I’m surprised that that they waited this long to introduce Zemo. He’s probably Cap’s most major enemy next to Red Skull, but, if Bruhl is playing the Deformed Baron, its a great casting choice.
