SpikeTV Greenlights ‘Red Mars’ TV Series

We reported last year that SpikeTV was developing a TV series based on Kim Stanley Robinson’s Mars Trilogy of books. Well, unlike a lot of shows that seem to head into development but go nowhere, this one is actually happening.

SpikeTV has ordered the show straight to series under the name Red Mars (the title of the trilogy’s first book). It will have a ten episode season, with Robinson consulting on the series. Babylon 5‘s J. Michael Straczynski will be executive producing and writing, which is either really good or really bad depending on what your opinions on JMS are.

Red Mars is expected to debut in January of 2017.

Trae Dorn

Trae Dorn has been staffing conventions for over twenty-five years. They also wrote and drew the now completed webcomic UnCONventional, and produce the podcasts BS-Free Witchcraft, On This Day With Trae, Stormwood & Associates, The Meatgrinder, and The Nerd & Tie Podcast. This leads many to ask how the heck they have the time to get it all done. Trae says they have the time because they “do it all quite poorly.”
