‘Star Trek: Bridge Crew’ is Like Artemis, Only in VR and With the Actual Trek License

I think it’s safe to say that most people who read this blog have fantasized about being on the bridge of a Federation starship. While games like Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator have let fans recreate the experience unofficially, there hasn’t really been a licensed game or product to let Trek fans recreate the fictional experience.

That is, of course, until now, with Ubisoft’s upcoming VR game Star Trek: Bridge Crew.

Coming this fall for the Vive, Rift and Playstation VR, Star Trek: Bridge Crew is a four player VR game that lets you take a station on an Abramsverse Starfleet vessel. Ubisoft put out some video of gameplay at E3 with some familiar faces to demonstrate:

Honestly, while the game looks pretty fun, it also looks expensive to play. When you calculate the costs of four VR headsets and the computing hardware to drive the game, the numbers clock up pretty damned fast. On the other hand, even $49.99 Kindle Fires can run Artemis stations.

Either way, Star Trek: Bridge Crew is expected to come out this fall.
