Just a Reminder That the Russian Movie ‘Guardians’ Looks Bananas

We haven’t talked a lot about the upcoming Russian movie Guardians, and I’m not sure why. The film is Russia’s answer to the current superhero craze in cinema, and seems to draw inspiration from The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and Deadpool. Oh, and there’s a man who turns into a bear firing a minigun.

That’s important.

Honestly, with the language barrier, it’s hard to know how good the movie will actually be, but it looks like it’ll at least have a sense of humor about itself. I have a feeling this is going to be one of those films where you quietly ask your friends “Dude, have you seen Guardians yet?” at conventions and parties, and excitedly show it to them if they say no. I mean, that’s what the new trailer for the movie is telling me.

Guardians comes out in Russia on February 23, 2017. Hopefully it won’t take too long to come out here after.

Trae Dorn

Trae Dorn has been staffing conventions for over twenty-five years. They also wrote and drew the now completed webcomic UnCONventional, and produce the podcasts BS-Free Witchcraft, On This Day With Trae, Stormwood & Associates, The Meatgrinder, and The Nerd & Tie Podcast. This leads many to ask how the heck they have the time to get it all done. Trae says they have the time because they “do it all quite poorly.”
