Sony Developing ‘Spider-Man’ Spinoff Starring Silver Sable and Black Cat

A few years ago, before Sony’s plans for an expanded Spider-verse based on their Amazing version of the character collapsed, they were planning a woman led spin-off which would likely feature either Black Cat or Silver Sable. Like most movies associated with that proposed franchise expansion, it was assumed that the project was long dead and buried.

Well maybe not so much.

THR is reporting that Sony is currently developing a film based around both Silver Sable and Black Cat. The studio has tapped Chris Yost to write the script, who recently wrote the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok for Marvel. Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal are producing.

This isn’t Sony’s only Spider-Man spinoff in development, with a Venom movie recently announced to be in the works (which even has a release date). It’s unclear if these will be anchored in Marvel’s MCU, but as the current Spider-Man is, it would be super weird if they weren’t.

I guess we’ll see what happens.
