Glen Mazzara Will Showrun ‘Dark Tower’ TV Series

So The Dark Tower is finally in theaters. After taking the longest routes to theaters imaginable (and still actually happen) the movie legitimately exists. I honestly never thought I’d see the day. It’s almost like any time they tried to make the movie before, right as they reached the point of finalizing it, they’d be snapped right back to the beginning.

But not this cycle.

Anywho, one of the weirder parts of the The Dark Tower‘s adaptation is a bit we honestly forgot about — that Sony intended to make a TV series that ran between films. Apparently so did everyone else though, as the reaction to Sony announcing a showrunner was a collective “Oh crap, we totally forgot about that.”

The showrunner in question is Glen Mazzara, best known for his work on The Walking Dead, and will be largely based off the fourth book in the series Wizard and Glass. The show will effectively be Roland Deschain’s origin story. Which is, y’know, neat.

So, umm… yeah? It’s totally a thing that’s happening as far as we know right now. I mean, it’s not like Sony would go and announce a big expansive universe before knowing whether or not the film it’s based on is successful enough to support it.

Oh, wait…
